1 more sleep….

and then we are off to Disneyland eeeeeek! So excited!

In other news, we have unaided sitting! It was really quite amazing how this happened really. Monday she wasn’t sitting, Tuesday she was! Just like that. She is rock solid and can reach for things and stop herself falling. It is making life so much easier, cos you got to agree that playing is much easier when you can sit?

6 months!

So Sunday marked Rosa’s half a year in this world. Oh my goodness how that has gone quickly!

Image

She is wearing a dress that I made for her (with some help from my Mum). I fell in love with the fabric and just had to do something with it. I also made one for a friend who was desperate for my Mum to make her little girl something after I had posted pictures on Facebook. I am going to surprise her with it by just sending it. She has no idea! I can’t wait to hear her reaction.

Today she mastered sitting unaided. I have been working on it with her this week building up her core muscles and today it just ‘clicked’. She has beaten Charlie to that milestone 😉

I’ve carried on with the weaning slowly. She had had just a few spoons of porridge every day so far. Today I stepped it up to 2 meals and introduced a fruit portion mid morning. So far it is making no difference to the sleeping (I suspected it wouldn’t) but she is 6 months now and I feel better about doing it. She hasn’t needed any more formula as I took Domperidone for a day to boost my supply which worked a treat.

In Charlie news, he is doing fabulously in his swimming lessons! during today’s lesson, Rosa did a huge poo and the kind lady who holds her for me offered to do her nappy. I did make she she was sure before saying yes and bless her it was a doozy! It was all up her back and one of those terrible ‘weaning nappies’ which she commented that she had forgotten how horrible they can be!

He can now dive off the side with a glide. Monkey along the edge and dip under. Climb independently out of the poolside. Swim about 3 metres independently. He really loves his swimming lessons.

I’m going to leave you with a picture of a bonnet I knitted. It’s great for the cooler weather. It feels very fresh outside, autumn is coming…and with that the lead up to the big C!!

Day 5 – from a high angle

Image

I just gave Rosa her first ounce of formula 😦 It broke my heart, but she was hungry and there was no milk in my boobs (she never normally feeds at this time of evening) She took it ok…. I think I put too much pressure on myself. At least I know I can leave her to go to work now. I will try and pump, but a small bit of pressure has been lifted if I don’t manage to pump enough.

Day 4 – Something Green

A set I made this week.Image

I *think* we might be getting somewhere with the sleeping. We have started actually putting her to bed in the evening around 8pm at the same time as Charlie. We lay her down in the co-sleeper, put on some music, give her a dummy and a blanket to cuddle, lower the lighting and leave her. So far she has been an absolute star and drifted quietly off to sleep on her own. I found this really hard the first night. Firstly I just love her to fall asleep on me, and secondly I like to keep her downstairs where I can see her. Stacy wanted to do it though, and managed to persuade me….and so far it has been a good move. She does more often than not wake at around 11pm when we go to bed (but not always) and there have been 2 nights where she has only woken twice for feeding. Honestly I woke up feeling like a new woman! Last night it was 3 times, but 1 of those times I put her dummy in, gave her face a gentle stroke for a few minutes and she went back off without me needing to feed her. This is a vast improvement on feeding 6 times per night!

I spent the day making a buggy liner for my Phil and Teds to make it more ‘girlie’. It makes me very happy indeed! I will try and find some time to make it into a full on cosy toes in the very near future *watch this space*Image
