Christmas Day

It’s 7.30pm here and one of the great things about being at home with family is that other people play and entertain the kiddo and give me half an hour to write a quick blog post before Dr Who comes on at 8.00pm.
We have had a truely fabulous day. It started with a lie in!! Woohoo!
The Charlie got totally overwhelmed with opening a HUGE pile of presents. We had to stop and come back to them later in the afternoon.
His favourite toy by far has been his cosy coupe. At toddler group they fight over this toy and so he refused to get out of it for several hours, and even opened other presents from within it! Once he did finally leave it, we hid it again!!!

Christmas dinner was lush. I made real gravy, my sister made fab roast potatoes and my Mum cooked the turkey to perfection.

We played games, had a nap and watched a film this afternoon.
The baby within me, has kicked away all day reminding me of her presence. Next year we shall have 2 children, how amazing is that.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Owl hat

I saw this pattern on etsy and I knew it was going to be hard, it said so in the blurb… but I just had to give it a go! It WAS hard lol. Cabling in crochet is very different to knitting. I totally love it though, and can’t wait to put her in it!

Parties!!

I have been to 2 parties this week, and have struggled to find something to wear for both of them! The first wasn’t too dressy and I managed to find a loose enough top to put over leggings and dress it up. This was our choir party at a restaurant and they had asked us to sing (for a free pudding!)

We were signing silent night, the women next to me caressed my belly as we sang the line ’round yon virgin mother and child’

Someone in the audience yelled out ‘She’s not a virgin!!’

and my friend next to me yelled back ‘oh yes she is!!’ mortified I tell you. lol

The it was my work party last night, and this was a very dressy affair in a posh hotel. They just do not make maternity dresses posh enough! So the hunt was on for one I could just get into anyway. We did manage it! The photo is in black and white as the colour came out all weird,

It was a fairly good night. One of my bosses took the opportunity to quiz me on my maternity plans. I didn’t commit to anything. He said when I come back he wants me to work 4 days. I said ‘NO WAY!’ and he said, ‘I shall make it worth your while….’ hmmm we shall see. It really depends on how the breastfeeding is going. Stacy suggested I do 2 days for 6 months and then step it up to 3-4 days when we start trying to get pregnant with no 3…yes no 3!!!!

Names! We have settled on a name we both like. We are going to trial it for a bit. It does involve 2 middle names, because I wanted to get my Nana’s name in there. Coincidentally, one of the other names we like has a connection to one of Stacy’s grandmothers as well, so it should work nicely.

Think we are going to go to the dino park today and visit Santa in his grotto. It snowed last night and there is a dusting of icing sugar outside. All the presents are wrapped and under the tree.

V-Day

Today is a very special day. Today we are at 24 weeks, and if this baby were to decide to come early, the doctors would make an effort to keep her alive, and chances are she would survive. Amazing. It only seems like yesterday I got my BFP and now I have a viable baby inside me (currently managing to kick me in the ribs and the bladder at the same time?!?!)

This weekend was also fantastic! We had our annual get together with old friends from uni. We always do a mock Christmas day complete with presents, a big dinner and games into the night. It was fab and Charlie was totally spoilt! The weather was glorious as well and we got an opportunity to take little man down onto the beach and throw stones into the sea.

Becca has been begging me for an ‘apple hat’ for months, so I made her one! Charlie loved that his hat matched hers!

Ok the weather wasn’t glorious the whole time

Jon took this photo for us, we love it!

My upset :(

As you know, I have been quite excited about the Christmas fayre that happened at the hospital last night. Stacy works at the hospital and so this is how I came to be so involved. To get an idea of all the things I was unhappy about, here is the letter I have just sent off!

Dear so and so,

I am writing because I feel I must air my disappointment with several aspects of yesterday’s Christmas Fayre. Please note that these are my personal opinions and do not reflect upon anyone else.
1. First of all (and this is my biggest upset) is regards to my choir Norwich Harmony (whom I was responsible for inviting). 30 of our members turned up to sing at your fayre. I must admit to having to hold back the tears when I realised we were singing in the canteen and not in the centre of the event. We sang our repertoire of 45 minutes to the 15 people trying to eat their dinner, it did not feel good. Most of the other members were confused as to why we had been invited to sing at all, they didn’t even realise there was a fayre going on! I told them to walk for 10 minutes down the corridor where they would find it. Most of them didn’t bother.

2. I managed to persuade the company I work for to donate 2 valuable prizes to the raffle. When I came to buy my raffle tickets, I could not see any mention of those prizes anywhere. In fact I could not see any of the other prizes available in the raffle. As far as I could see, the prizes were 3 hampers. I was asked to report back to my boss as to the exposure their kind donation received. I shall not be honest with them.

3. I entered the cake decorating competition. I went to the table when I arrived to see who had won, but there was no indication present. I thought it might appear later. When I picked up my cake at the end of the event, there was still no sign of a winner. I asked someone who had won. Their response was ‘shouldn’t it be obvious?’ Nice. (There was a three tier cake entered that had a train going around the bottom and dancing penguins all over it. It had been made by a local professional cake maker. It was amazing, but I feel it unfair it was allowed into the comp really)

4. This is a small grievance, but when added to the other things I will mention it. I made biscuits for the cake stall and spent several hours making and decorating them. They weren’t even got out of their tin for people to see.

I was left feeling so upset by all of this as I had embraced your event with great enthusiasm. I wanted it to be a success for you all. I felt my efforts were unappreciated or not deemed important enough to acknowledge. Why oh why were my choir singing in the canteen? This will forever be a mystery to me.
When we were leaving someone said to me, ‘did you see the reindeer?’ The answer was no, I was unaware they were there. How anyone can attend the event and miss the reindeer is beyond me.
To end on a positive note, my little boy really did enjoy going to see Father Christmas.
I hope that you find my comments constructive, and will consider them at future events. As it was obvious that I won the cake competition, I shall collect my prize later today 😉

Yours,

So yeah pretty annoyed really!!! But….. Charlie and my Mum really did enjoy the singing. It ended up being quite cute as Charlie didn’t want to leave me and stood at the front with the rest of the chorus for most of the songs. They loved it!

I have been really awful at taking bump pictures this time! I think we might only have 3, or it might even be 2!!! Anyway here is the 23 week bump picture.
