>Ooooh we drove Stacy’s car into town today to have its MOT done thinking it would pass ok and not really thinking about what we would do it it didn’t. Well they didn’t ring us back so we eventually rang them (we were enjoying shopping) and they told us it had failed and we had 10 mins to get back to the shop! So Stacy ran to them with me trotting behind with the pushchair. We managed to get his car seat out of the car and ask for directions to the bus stop before they closed up! We wondered about for a while trying to locate a bus with a screaming child in tow and Stacy hawking the car seat around! Then it started raining….great!
We did eventually get home in one piece if a bit deishelveled. It’s going to cost us a lot of money to get the car to pass on the re-test, plus the council have said our council tax is going to be £179 per month!!!
Ok now for a council tax rant. Single people get a discount for being single. Now we are on a single income but have to pay full tax, plus Stacy has 2 dependants on her single income and obviously because there are 3 of us we live in a bigger house than the single person. How is this right? Surely we are the ones who need the discount, not the single person! Grrrrr (For American readers, council tax is worked out on the size of your house and is in addition to your income tax and nothing to do with how much you earn – that is irrelevant!)
I’m going to stop moaning now as life is for living and it doesn’t matter if you spend all your money, you can’t take it with you! So even though the government and the garage are squeezing us we shall try not to worry about it.
Still found time to take a cute snap of my munchkin (this is Stacy’s new name for him ;))

>Waterbabies

>This week has been the first week of term for school kids and so all of our clubs have started! On Monday we have Gymborree which we really enjoyed the first week and signed up for a term. I was quite disappointed when the second session was exactly the same. I know kids like repitition but as a Mum I am going to get bored very quickly if they don’t introduce some variation in there! One of the things he loved was the bubbles. They laid all the babies down and blue bubbles over their heads. They used bubbles made of sugar so it didn’t matter if it went into their mouths or eyes. Apparently older children try and catch them in their mouths as they know they taste of sugar!
Tuesday was our first waterbabies session. I think Charlie had mixed opinions on this. They fitted him with a little baby wetsuit and it made him all stiff! He loved the first half of the lesson, jumping into the pool and games involving being thrown in the air. He wasn’t too keen on his first submersion (which is normal) but after the initial shock he was happy again. There were only 2 of us in the class and the teacher fell in love with Charlie who smiled and laughed every time she used him as a demo baby. We are looking forward to the end of term where they do an underwater photo shoot!
Thursday is baby massage. This for us was a bit airy fairy…. we had to ask our baby permission to massage them. I hope a fart counts as a yes as that was what Charlie did when I asked him. Honestly if anyone was willing to give me a full body massage I am not going to say no! Also we did this little piggy..etc and we had to say the last line as ‘and this little piggy went to sleep’ *groan*
I hope I have made a friend. There was one lady who seemed on my level who was at both gymborree and baby massage and we chatted. Hopefully it will turn into friendship as I do get lonely sometimes during the day.
I am now back on Warfarin and having weekly blood tests to check my INR, this happens on a Wednesday. So I only have Friday as a free day now and hope to use it to see my Mum (a girl needs her Mum)
Oh I had a HORRIBLE experience this week. I was getting into the car after Gymborree and I twisted my knee and my knee popped out of the socket!!! The pain was so intense I could hardly breathe. With only 7 mins left on the car park before I would incur a fine I knew I had to do something! After a few moments of psyching myself up I popped it back in. Ouch that hurt. I have been terrified of it happening again ever since.
Oh and I got the camera out again today to take a picture of Charlie’s new hat, knitted in a bigger size this time 😉

>Photo Sunday

>Whilst at my Mum and Dad’s this afternoon I took advantage of the wonderful light they have out in the countryside with massive patio doors and took a few photos.

We really enjoyed our meal out on Friday, if a little short (I will admit to wanting to get home to him – sad I know)
I also knitted another hat! It’s great going home, there are plenty of people willing to hold and entertain the baby and I get to spend ages on the net or making things without the guilt that I am neglecting my baby! lol

>Poor little Charlie

>My smilie chappie is not feeling too well after his injections. He’s giving his Mummy a hard time at night too! How long is this supposed to last? He had them on Weds afternoon! Poor little mite.
It was Stacy’s birthday yesterday. She went out with work colleagues though so I hardly saw her all day!! Today I have made her a cake and we are going to go out for a meal whilst Mum has Charlie. It has taken me two days to express enough milk to leave him!! Breastfeeding is going really well now by the way! I have loads of milk and every feed is calm (expect sometimes I have to trick him into taking my left side). The bad side of all of this is the weight gain associated with the tablets. Every day I go up half a pound!! With the dramatic increase I can only hope some of it is water retention as that is some hefty quick weight gain that I didn’t even see in pregnancy. Still, I am assured side effects are short lived and I hope this includes the weight gain. Even if it isn’t I will try not to worry, breastfeeding my baby is something so totally important to me that I don’t care if I put on a stone (eek!)

>Weekend in Brum

>We had another hectic weekend! This time we drove to Brum for our annual Skegness weekend (not in Skegness) lol. We were thrilled to be invited again, as we worried we wouldn’t be what with having a baby and everything. Then we worried Charlie would change the dynamic of the event. We shouldn’t have worried. They all doted on him and he behaved so well! Smiling and laughing with everyone and generally being soooo cute. We went on a shopping trip and they were all excited to buy him toys and we came home with a car full!

I took along 30 cakes and we decorated them, the boys got involved too (with black icing!!) and the results…shall I say….varied lol.
On Monday I took Charlie to our first Gymboree lesson. It was great! We sang and did baby signing, we played games with a parachute and with scarfs and bubbles and we played on equipment. He loved it and was the best behaved child there! (and the youngest) There were some funny looking babies there….
Today he had his second lot of injections and they were much worse than the first lot. He has since been feeling quite unwell and crying for no reason which is very unlike him, bless him. He has had some Calpol now and is playing with Mammy.
Tomorrow is Stacy’s birthday and she is going out with some friends in the evening leaving us all alone 😦 I am just about to bake some cakes for her to take to work with her. Then we are going to my parents at the weekend so that they can look after Charlie whilst we get to go out and have a meal together and go to the cinema. I am so *excited* We plan to take him swimming on Saturday as well and have bought some swimming nappies in anticipation. I hope he feels better by then, he should do.
Ooooh and tomorrow is baby massage class! I live in a whole new world now lol

>A summer wedding

>We headed back up to our old home for a wedding this weekend. Charlie coped very well with the journey. We had a quick stop off At J’s who hasn’t seen him since he was a month old. He noticed lots of changes in him. He appreciated the visit and we have our next one booked for December time.
It was my friend Claire getting married and she looked like a princess! I didn’t notice anyone taking any video so I videoed as much as I can and have edited it for her and made her a disc which I will surprise her with in the post when she gets back off her honeymoon.
All the guests were enchanted by my little man in his suit complete with waitcoat 😉 and my gingerbread men made the bride laugh!

The drive home was hard work and when we got back we relaxed in the garden, mowed the lawn, planted some plants and sipped cold drinks before crashing and sleeping like babies for the night.
Life is so good right now.
