>I had mixed feelings about this reunion before it happened not least because it was also a celebration of My Grandad’s 80th birthday and so of course he was going to be there, and no doubt didn’t want me and my family there.
We just ignored each other for the first half of the day. Then it came time for the group photos and just as one of the photos was about to be taken, he came over to me and took Charlie out of my arms.

I immediately burst into tears, as did all of my aunties.

After the photos had been taken he came back and gave Charlie back to me and patted me, with tears in his eyes. There were no words spoken.
The day was lovely really. I got to meet lots of relatives I never have before. Grandad fell out with 2 of his siblings and has not spoken to either of them since his 20’s. Therefore all of their children (my fathers cousins) had never been part of the family. They were all invited to the reunion and the atmosphere was great. Old arguments forgotten. I think this gave my Grandad some reflection time and he decided to change his ways. Small steps.
In the evening when it went dark we all lit a little candle and placed them where my Granda’s ashes are buried. It was beautiful.

I now have my sister staying with me for a week whilst my family are on holiday. It’s really nice having her here and we go out everyday for little outings. Stacy has the day off tomorrow and we are going to have some fun!

>I want to see your LO wearing it on your blog once he is here! I hope he doesn’t have a head circumference more than 38cm though or it won’t fit! I would think you don’t want his head any bigger than that either! LOL

>Printing my blog

>Well I always intended to print this blog one day and keep it safe for Charlie to read one day. It will tell and explain to him how he was made (it great detail!) as well as how we felt about things. However today I ordered it and read through and well maybe I will never let him read it. If he ever struggles with our decision to have him and how we made him, then maybe I will get it out.
It might be something for him to read once I am dead! He can find it in a cupboard or something 😉
We have used blog2print and I am excited to have it in a form that I can hold and flick through. I included all your comments too, as I felt they were important.
I have also pondered renaming the blog and removing old posts. I certainly don’t want it left on the net for eternity.

soooo any ideas on a new title?

>Weight gain worries

>The health visitor came today to weigh Charlie and he is now 8lbs 4oz, which is still very tiny. He is in the 0.4th percentile. I don’t know why he isn’t putting on weight as fast as other babies do. He is exclusively breastfed and eats every 1.5 to 2 hours. He seems happy and contended after a feed and is progressing well in other developmental stages. The charts used to determine if babies are putting on enough weight were put together in like the 1970’s and were for forumla fed babies. I am told to not worry about his weight gain, that gaining weight is the main thing and lots of wet/dirty nappies (we have loads of those!)
Still….I am worried and considering giving him a bottle of formula in the evenings. I really don’t want to though.
This weekend we make the trip back to Sheffield for a massive family reunion on my Dads side. My Grandad will be there…it will be interesting to see how he reacts to us. My bet is he just ignores us and tries to be in a room we are not. I think this may upset my Dad, he hates the way his father treats me and always makes a point of talking about me and my family when he speaks to him.

>Holding his head up

>I can’t get over how quickly he is developing. This week we have had drastic improvements in head control. He can hold it up for an indefinite amount of time during the burp pose and also is holding it up during tummy time.
